Merseyside & District Swimming League

Round 2 Gala A took place at Kingsway Pool, Widnes on Saturday 22nd February.

With it being the end of half term we had no fewer than eight swimmers unavailable along with Eric Byrne not feeling well enough to swim in his individual events and Liam Keegan who thought he'd hung his cap up at the start of February but swam because we were short in his age group, the team however produced a really encouraging performance.

After a number of second and third place finishes in the first block of medley relays our first win came from the Boys Open 4 x 25m Medley, Criostai Hayden Callen, Tom Barton, Alex Keegan and Jason Rawlins Williams.

We then had to wait until event 21 for our next win which came from Connie Urumov in the 14/15 50m Butterfly. Bewteen events 24 and 40 we had seven winning swims from Tom Barton in the Open 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke, Tom Wilde in the 10/11 age group 50m Breaststroke and 25m Butterfly, Olivia Lee in the 12/13 age group 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle and finally Lily Anna Ireland in the Open age 100m Breaststroke.

The last block of freestyle relays and again a number of second and third place finishes with the Open Boys winning their relay.

Provisional final points: 1st Halton 245pts, 2nd Everton 221pts 3rd Garston 212pts 4th Woodchurch 107pts 5th Runcorn 86pts

Gala B took place on Sunday 23rd February and the provisional final points were : 1st Prescot 243pts, 2nd Crosby 242pts, 3rd Bridgefield 199pts, 4th Liverpool Penguins 160pts, 5th Bootle 120pts, 6th Warrington 78pts.

Once results have been ratified and updated league table received it will be posted on the website.
