Merseyside & District League - Round 1

The day after Round 1 of Arena League we swam in Round 1 of the M&D League. There are twelve clubs competing in the league this season and all clubs will swim in three rounds accumulating points in each round with the top six clubs swimming in the A Final and the bottom six clubs in the B Final. Our first gala was held at Knowsley against Prescot, Halton, Formby, Bridgefield and Bootle. We had a few swimmers making their debut in the M&D League, Seraphina Kwok, Daniel Marrow, Oliver Connor, Caitlin Wainwright, Faye Byrne, Oliver Horscroft all of whom swam well and never looked out of their depth even though some of them were swimming at the bottom end of a two year age group.

On the day we had a number of winning swims from the Girls Open Medley and Freestyle Relay, Libby Manning, Lily Anna Ireland, Emily Morris and Kayla Rawlins Williams, the Boys Open Medley Relay, Criostai Hayden Callen, Alex Keegan, Joe Evans, Jason Rawlins Williams, Joe Evans in the Boys Open 100m Freestyle, Tom Wilde in the Boys 10/11 years 50m Breaststroke, Libby Manning in the Girls Open 100m Backstroke and Lily Anna Ireland in the Girls Open 100m Breaststroke.

After 12 events we were in second place behind a strong Prescot team but fell down a place after 18 events were we stayed for the rest of the gala.

Overall a really good performance from the team and we look forward to Round 2 which will be held in the New Year.
