British & English Summer Age Group Nationals 2019
At the end of July/beginning of August one of our swimmers, Holly Barden aged 14 who trains with Swim Liverpool, competed at the British and English National Championships.
The British Championships were held in Glasgow with Holly competing in the 50m and 100m Free. In the 50m she swam 27.57 achieving 0.50 second pb finishing in 11th postion just ouside a final place, however considering Holly was ranked 25th going into the heats to finish 11th was a fantastic achievement.
In the 100m Holly's entry time was 1.00.81 and in the heat she was just outside her personal best time which stands at 1.00.77 leaving her in 17th place.
Onto the English Championships at Sheffield this time Holly was competing in just the 200m Free, however things never went to plan swimming a time of 2.14.40 in the heat which was 2 seconds outside her pb and leaving her in 18th place.
Nevertheless to reach either British or English Nationals is an excellent achievement and this is the second year in succession Holly has reached this level. With a summer break now behind her I am sure she will be back faster and stronger this season and looking to improve on last season.
Since returning back from Nationals Holly received notification that she has been selected onto the Swim England National Development Programme which is excellent news, well done Holly!!
